POOR MAN’S ETRICITY POWER PACK
Here is an idea, that is really nothing new.
I have to ask myself why, the human race is not more enthusiastic
I am most certainly not the
only person, who can see this potential in the junk pile.
What would Fred Sanford do,
with all of the horded spare parts around him?
Of course the military has perfected this technology for what it is worth.
I refuse to pay retail prices, and have the faith in my autodidactic ability to compile a sufficient power pack, to at least support my needs.
All I really need to do, is charge my computer, cell phone, ipod, maybe run a few LED lights, array of PC fans, coffee maker, Amish heater (same electrical requirements as a coffee maker).
I could probably modify an old steam clothes iron to make an effective inline hot water heater for the boat or camper trailer. A good cuisineart blender can operate on a 400W inverter.
I have often considered making a portable blender, that will fit any rechargeable electric drill, for the camper’s chuck box. A convection oven would require much more amperage (may need to fire up a small portable AC generator for this). You could build one out of a Leister heat gun. http://www.leister.com
All of these things are fairly low overhead in the electrical requirements department.
These requirements could be met, utilizing a few small wind turbines and solar panels, feeding a small array, of old forklift and golf cart batteries (Primary); subsequently daisy chained to deep cycle marine and tractor trailer truck batteries (Secondary), each with it’s own fused inverter, to allow household Alternating Current (AC)
gendered devices to operate (at least low amperage devices).
HOME MADE CAPACITORS AND WIND TURBINES
I could take old 5-10 gallon buckets and the platinum catalytic converter cores, weaved with old welding lead copper,
and probably make a battery, that is superior to your best deep cycle lead battery on the market. The wind turbines feeding these capacitors could be constructed out of Tractor Trailer Alternators and model
airplane propellers from the hobby shop.
WHEN THE WIND STOPS BLOWING AND THE SUN
Look around your home domain.
What kinetic energy do you see going to waste?
That old steam radiator sure
has allot of potential that is not being utilized.
Imagine we marry the relief valve with copper tubing and solenoid control, to an Aeolipile (Hero’s Engine…See Attached) that turns the same Tractor Trailer Alternator (or a small modified generator armature to make AC current directly) that the wind would ordinarily turn, to top off your battery capacitor array.
Campers and boaters that do not have a steam radiator system to exploit, can build a rig out of an old tiki torch that burns alcohol, or torch oil, that would subsequently spin the Aeolpile, that is attached to the armature of the alternator, thus charging the battery as if the wind was blowing. It does not take much force to turn an alternator, or even an array of alternators.
You could take an old steam governor (old Cornish pump or steam machine parts) and achieve the same thing with more torque if needed.
WHAT A CONTRAPTION IT WOULD BE!
WHY DO AUTOMOBILES (or any moving topology for that matter),
NOT KINETICALLY CHARGE THEIR BATTERIES, UTILIZING THE WIND?
WHEN YOU FIGURE OUT WHY, YOU LET ME KNOW OK?
